| Describe Yourself? |
| I am an alumnus and proud brother of Phi Kappa Psi NJE at Rowan University. I graduated from Rowan back in Spring 2006 with a double major and a minor. I was fortunate enough to find a job a month out of college working as a technical support specialist for Invensys Process Systems and I love my job (not many people can say that lol). I am very much a family man, and am very close to not only my family, but to all of my friends, including my brothers in Phi Psi. I bought a condo back in November 2006, so now I live in Wilmington, DE, but I grew up in Williamstown, NJ. I have a wonderful girlfriend named Kerri who I've been with now for about 8 months. I drive a 2006 Acura TSX, which is my second love next to Kerri lol. Outside of this, I'm a pretty laid back guy any more now that I'm not in school and I'm a bit of a jack-of-all-trades (my Interests and Activities will show that lol). Right now my life pretty much revolves around working, paying off debt, trying not to get more debt lol, spending a lot of time with friends, family, and Kerri, and pretty much just enjoying life. |
| Any Interests / Activities? |
| There really isn't anything that I don't do and/or enjoy. I'm going to break this into two categories- Things I've been doing recently and Other things.
Things I've been doing recently - Spending time with Kerri and my family; hanging out with my friends; fantasy football; cooking (lots of cooking); summer blockbuster movies; great TV programming, like Heroes, House and Lost; the beach, hiking and anything else I can do while it's still warm; video games; golf; taking/editing pictures; working on my condo and/or buying new things for it; driving in my car in general; music of all kinds, but listening to a lot of country music and musicals lately; my iPod; playing cards (poker/blackjack); rocking out on Guitar Hero; going on vacations and traveling; theme parks; getting more involved with the Fraternity once again; surprises for Kerri.
Other things - I am a classically trained pianist, so music plays a huge part of my life. I have been playing piano for about 18 years. I constantly perform for shows, musicals, weddings, cocktail/dinner parties, and so much more. Because of this, I have a huge taste in music and have favorite bands/artists in just about every genre (My Chemical Romance, Bon Jovi, Yellowcard, Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Aerosmith, Billy Joel, Boyz II Men; musicals like Footloose, Rent, Les Miserables, Hairspray and Chicago; composers like Chopin, Bach, Liszt and Beethoven; Daughtry, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Sinatra, The Pussycat Dolls, Usher, Shakira, Maria Carey, Whitney Houston, and lots more, just to give you an idea). One of the few genres I don't really have on my iPod is rap/r&b, but I still don't mind it too much if I'm listening to it. Also, really hardcore stuff, like death metal and all that I can listen to as well, but again don't have much of. In general I like it all though.
More stuff - Volleyball, snowboarding, baseball, soccer, bowling, hockey, pool/billiards, darts; seasonal events, like carving pumpkins, the Renaissance Fare, fireworks, the holidays, snow, Valentine's Day, etc; ballroom dancing and other structured dancing; the casino; musicals and shows; gambling; planning for my future; lots of other stuff. |
| Why Did You Join Phi Kappa Psi? |
| I joined Phi Kappa Psi mainly because I needed something to distract me. I had recently broken up with my highschool sweetheart of 2 1/2 years two weeks into college, and it was a very hard time for me. I ran into Eugene Bayawa, a friend of mine and my ex at that time from highschool, and he suggested that I come hang out with him at his fraternity house to get my mind off of things. I went to the house, met Russ Pocaro, KB, and Justin Lelie, and we instantly hit it off playing some Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast. It felt very much like I was with my friends from home, which is something I really needed while at school. After about a month, I decided that I think I wanted to join, despite being so against it in the past. Since we are a no hazing fraternity, I had no concerns about joining, and now think it to be one of the best things I could've ever done. |
| Favorite Moment as a Brother? |
| My favorite moment as a brother was getting my first Little, Ryan. I wanted a Little so bad and one that I was going to be extremely close to. After one year of being in the fraternity, I thought I was going to be up for a Little, so I got my hopes up on having Dan Marzin as my possible Little brother. Dan wanted to have me as his Big and I wanted him as my Little so I figured this was a given when the time came, but due to some disagreements on when my class was eligible to take a little, the chapter at the time didn't let me have a little. They said that I couldn't have a little until I took a Psi (back when we had the Phi's and Psi's ceremony). This frustrated me highly, so I decided that I wasn't going to take a Little until I found one that I knew was perfect for me. The next semester I was up for a Little, but declined because I didn't find what I was looking for, so I held out until the following semester. I ended meeting and rushing Ryan and knowing right away that I wanted him to be my Little. As the semester went on, we got close, but Ryan was spending a lot of time with Dan Marzin and Nick Stepenosky, so I thought for sure that he was going to pick one of them as his big. I knew that they both wanted Ryan, and it was kind of funny to watch them both compete against one another for him. I eventually pulled Ryan aside and told him that I would like him to be my Little, what I was looking for, and that it's ultimately his decision. Going into the Bigs and Littles ceremony, I had no idea who I was getting, so when the ceremony started and I saw Ryan was going to be my Little, that made my day because I had waited for so long for that. Don't think there's going to be another moment to top that until I get into the Order of the SC lol. Four more to go... |
